Delta’s newest batch of cutesy ads seeks to bolster the national vocabulary with four new pieces of “Planeguage.” The new terms are “shady lady” (someone who adjusts her window shade constantly); “kidtastrophe” (annoying children); “middleman” (the guy in the middle seat who hogs both armrests); and “lavdance” (the physical difficulty of entering and exiting the bathroom). The first three already have a word that covers them (“assholes”), and the fourth isn’t something I’d advertise as a normal occurrence on my airline. Still, the ads look good, sort of a Playmobil visual style, if that makes any sense, and all four of them are available on YouTube. And if you have any planeguage ideas to contribute, they’re open to suggestions.
