Commercial Closet, the group devoted to getting more (and more respectful) gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender references into mainstream advertising, has unveiled the nominees for its 2006 Images in Advertising Awards. They include these ads from Amster Yard for PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays), showing celebrities supporting GLBT family members. (We received the complete list of nominees in an e-mail, but that list doesn’t seem to be up online yet.) The two nominees for ad agency of the year are Publicis and DDB. The turnaround mainstream advertiser of the year award and the “Clean Up Your Act Notice” will remain secret until the event, to be held May 23 at the Time Warner Center in New York and sponsored by AOL.
