April Fool’s Day joke or marketing trick? Whoever is behind this obnoxious, rudimentary billboard won’t say. The message, “Trade Barry,” done up in the orange-and-black colors of the San Francisco Giants, popped up on Saturday, April 1, on Third Street right near AT&T Park, where the Giants play. Giants fans, as usual, suspect the most obvious enemy: Los Angeles Dodger fans. And reaction locally is divided. Many San Franciscans defend Barry Bonds and his alleged steroid use out of defensiveness and pure regional pride. But one A’s fan thinks the ad is “definitely awesome,” according to San Francisco Chronicle reporter Demian Bulwa. Who knows, maybe this guy put it up. Or worse yet, her. Link via Deadspin.
