Sometimes nostalgia is good. Other times it’s not so good. Take, for example, the new Converse ads that feature a punk version of “Making Our Dreams Come True,” the 1970s theme song to Laverne & Shirley. While the spots are pretty interesting, as is the brand, the song is just as annoying in 2005 as it was in 1976. I don’t want to recall weeknights spent eating TV dinners and sitting in front of a giant RCA with a rabbit-ear antenna, watching stupid shows like this and Happy Days.
