Y&R Launches Leadership Council

NEW YORK — Young & Rubicam worldwide CEO Mike Dolan has set up a new Global Leadership Council made up of not only office heads and regional CEOs but also creative leaders and senior account executives.

In the past, Y&R had an Advertising Board that featured executives who ran offices and regions. The new group is bigger, with 28 members, and includes key players on major accounts, such as Ford, Colgate, Phillip Morris, AT&T, Danone and Sony Electronics.

“It is deliberately, consciously, militantly unhierarchical,” Dolan said.
The council will meet quarterly to discuss agency strategy, best business practices and client issues. The first meeting is scheduled for January in New York.

U.S. members include North American CEO Howard Breen, Irvine, Calif. CEO David Murphy, New York CEO Ron Bess, New York chief creative officer Jim Ferguson, New York vice chairman June Blocklin and New York managing partners John Partilla, Shelley Diamond, Jane Brite, Chris Goodman and Gord McLean.

Members from outside the U.S. include William Eccleshare, CEO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, two principals of Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R: M.T. Rainey and Robert Campbell, and Neil French, a creative consultant to Dentsu Young & Rubicam in Singapore.
