YouTube’s 10 Most-Watched Ads in July

Let’s face it: most of us are totally camera shy. Dove makes terrific use of that reality in its latest YouTube hit, which was the top-ranking commercial on YouTube and Adweek’s Leaderboard for July. With creative courtesy of Ogilvy, the 60-second spot features an assortment of girls and women hiding the moment they realize they’re being filmed, all to the tune of Rose Murphy’s "Peek-a-Boo."

But perhaps the real winner this month is Samsung, whose “Flight Chat” spot for the Galaxy 4 was first posted to YouTube on July 29 but rocketed to the No. 2 slot with a whopping 13-million-plus views. Imagine its view count had it been up all month.

Taking a distant No. 3 spot (just under 6.5 million views) is a hilarious Foot Locker/Reebok ad featuring Shaquille O’Neal and hip-hopper Tyga, courtesy of creative agency BBDO. Let's just say it involves a hydraulic lift that allows them to converse eye to eye about Shaq's cool new sneakers. 

Rounding out the top 5 are Honda’s creatively genius “Hands” spot and Heineken’s pot-luck-travel stunt “Departure Roulette.”
