YouTube’s 10 Most-Watched Ads in August

August was a sleepy month for commercials on YouTube, with only five videos posted during the month able to break the 1 million view mark—and two of those just barely.

The three spots that fared best on YouTube and Adweek's monthly Ads Leaderboard were all sports related: Nike's new "Just do it" commercial; NBC Sports' Jason Sudeikis video for its English Premier League coverage; and Jordan Brand's new Blake Griffin spot.

Further down the list were Honda, Motorola, a couple of EA spots—and even a campaign ad from New York City mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio.

The view counts are as of Sept. 5. To be eligible for the YouTube Ads Leaderboard, videos must be marked as ads on YouTube (i.e., they get some paid views) but must also earn significant organic views. The list only ranks videos uploaded in August. Click below to see all the spots.
