Young Co. Lands 2 in High-Tech

The Young Co. has added two new high-tech clients to its roster: the U.S. division of Dassault Systemes of America and Marconi Astronics.
The high-tech shop won France-based Dassault Systemes’ U.S. account after a review of shops on the East and West Coasts. The other finalist was Tom Davis + Co. in Lexington, Mass., according to sources.
Industry estimates place billings in the $5-10 million range. The client and agency declined to comment on ad spending.
Dassault Systemes, with U.S. headquarters in Woodland Hills, Calif., is a leading software developer for the CAD/CAMII market, providing users such as Boeing and DaimlerChrysler with solutions for their product development needs.
The Santa Monica, Calif., agency is expected to handle the U.S. launch of Dassault’s new CATIA Version 5 software. The assignment is expected to include print advertising and direct mail, as well as collateral materials for trade shows.
The agency is expected to begin focus groups this week.
Separately, the Young Co. will handle public relations and promotions for Marconi Astronics (formerly Lear Astronics Corp.), developer of advanced electronics for the military and commercial aviation sectors.
Marconi Astronics is a unit of Marconi North America Aeronautics Sector, whose parent company is Marconi North America, with annual sales of approximately $2.3 billion.
The Young Co.’s other high-tech clients include TDK Semiconductor, Texas Instruments and Web Vision.
