Kinetic, WPP’s out-of-home media unit, announced Tuesday (April 7) it is moving its base to the United States. As part of the restructuring, Steve Ridley was promoted to global chief operating officer, based in the U.S.
Most recently chief executive officer for the Americas, Ridley is credited with building Kinetic’s market position with six offices and billings exceeding $1.3 billion. Among the recent wins was MillerCoors, which named Kinetic its out of home agency of record.
In his new role, Ridley will remain in the U.S. “to give a wider emphasis to the management of Kinetic and broaden the resource from its traditional U.K. headquarters,” the company said in a statement.
David Payne, currently chief executive of Kinetic EMEA, will also be transferring to the U.S. to take on the role as chief executive for the Americas.
Eric Newnham, Kinetic’s founder and global chief executive, will temporarily assume the position of chief executive of EMEA until a new EMEA chief executive is named.
“So much as been achieved over the past four years; it is time for Kinetic to capitalize on all that hard work. The position we have developed across the world is unprecedented and I am delighted that Steve will be joining me to help develop the business even further,” Newnham said.
