WongDoody Expands Into Santa Monica

WongDoody has opened an office in Santa Monica, Calif., to better meet the needs of its growing number of Southern California clients.
The Seattle-based shop opened the new outpost last week. The staff of three is headed by Ben Wiener, recently promoted to managing partner of the creative shop. The staff is expected to double over the next six months, Wiener said.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to both provide better service to our existing clients and have access to new clients who might never have considered looking outside the L.A. area for an agency,” said Pat Doody, agency president.
WongDoody is a roster agency for Fox Sports and is currently working on TV campaigns for Fox’s prime time lineup and Fox Sports Net.
The shop also recently completed projects for 20th Century Fox, MGM/United Artists Home Entertainment, Sony subsidiary Psygnosis and Virgin Interactive.
“There’s definitely a niche in Los Angeles for a smaller, creatively focused agency,” said Tracy Wong, agency chairman and creative director. “We give our clients a wide range of creative options. We’re responsive.”
In addition to advertising, WongDoody’s Santa Monica office plans to expand into other areas. “We’d like to broaden our focus to include creating original, proprietary content,” Wiener said, noting that the shop has two TV shows in development. “We hope to expand that component of our business.”
The 4-year-old agency has a staff of 25 and billings of $35 million.
