RICHMOND, VA. – Wieden & Kennedy topped the ‘CA’ awards here sponsored by Communication Arts magazine, taking home 23 awards out of 26 pieces entered. Among the Portland, Ore., shop’s winning entries: Nike women’s ‘Did you ever wish you were a boy?’ and men’s tennis ‘Jim Courier’ print campaigns, the ‘Bo’s Hip’ TV campaign with Dennis Leary and Bo Jackson, the Michael Jordan/Charles Barkley ‘Role Model’ TV ads, as well as outdoor work for Black Star Beer.
The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., came in second, with 19 pieces entered. Martin clients represented include Health-tex, Wrangler, Banc One Wisconsin and the Poe Museum. Other agencies that fared well: Baltimore’s W.B. Doner and Earle Palmer Brown, Bethesda, Md.
