Winterton Joins Ogilvy As Executive Group Director

NEW YORK — Agency and marketing veteran Bruce Winterton is leaving his position as group business director and head of account management at Bartle Bogle Hegarty to join WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather, New York, as executive group director, with responsibility for overseeing the Motorola account in North America.

Winterton spent three years at BBH and was responsible for managing the agency in addition to looking after two of its largest businesses, Unilever’s Lipton account and Johnnie Walker. Prior to that, he was director of marketing at Miller Brewing and was in charge of running the Miller Genuine Draft and Miller High Life accounts. Winterton was also behind the development of the “High Life Man” campaign.

In his role overseeing the Motorola account, Winterton will work with executive creative directors Dan Burrier and Bill Oberlander.

Winterton began his career in advertising as a brand manager on Molson Ice. At Molson he created and managed the Molson Ice Polar Beach Party where he staged concerts on the beach of the Arctic Ocean with Metallica and Courtney Love and with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the deck of a Russian icebreaker.
