Winstanley Backs Upcoming Arena Football Season

BOSTON Winstanley Associates has designed the official ball of the Arena Football League and is planning an ad campaign to support the AFL’s upcoming season, to begin in February with broadcasts on NBC.

Winstanley, an independent marketing and ad shop in Lenox, Mass., was tapped for the design assignment based on its work with longtime client Spalding Sports Worldwide, which this year takes over from Wilson as official game ball manufacturer for the AFL.

“One of the biggest challenges with this particular design was getting the stripe to look graceful as it passed over the seams of the ball,” said agency vice president and creative director Ralph Frisina, who previously helped design Spalding balls for the WNBA and XFL.

In November, Winstanley unveiled TV work for Spalding that included a commercial for the Infusion basketball featuring Boston Celtics star forward Paul Pierce, who takes part in a hard-fought street ball game.
