Brian Wieser, Interpublic Group’s top forecaster, has left to become CMO at targeted TV ad service Simulmedia, the companies confirmed today.
Wieser joined IPG in 2003 and held the top researcher post at IPG’s MagnaGlobal for two years. By comparison, his predecessor, Bob Coen, held the role for 60 years.
In addition to confirming Wieser’s move, the two companies said they would do joint research exploring the effectiveness of using behavioral data to target audiences for TV ads.
Before joining IPG Wieser was a Wall Street analyst.
“Brian brings a proven track record in generating actionable insights that successfully inform marketing client and agency media strategies, as well as a deep understanding of the media industry,” said Jon Werther, president of Simulmedia, to whom Wieser will report.
No word yet on who will replace Wieser at MagnaGlobal. A rep there didn’t return calls. The news was reported earlier by Mediapost.
Founded by Internet entrepreneur Dave Morgan, New York-based Simulmedia is backed by Avalon Ventures, Union Square Ventures and Time Warner Investments.
