White Sox Eye 7 in Ad Agency Search

CHICAGO The Chicago White Sox have pared the list to seven agencies, including the incumbent, for the team’s $2 million advertising account, officials said on Wednesday.

Moving forward are incumbent Hoffman York, a Chicago independent; Omnicom’s BBDO; and independents Magnani, Romani Brothers, Tom, Dick & Harry; and Two by Four. All the shops are in Chicago. Interpublic’s Group’s Foote Cone & Belding in Chicago named by the client, but subsequently withdrew. More than 30 shops had submitted credentials to the team.

The American League club’s vice president of marketing, Brooks Boyer, is overseeing the search. Club executives will visit all seven agencies before holding presentations. A cut will be made only if the executives cannot come to a decision at that time, according to a team representative.
