What Must Happen to Make Gender Equality a Reality in Media and Sports

'Less noise about how hard things are' and more proactivity

Adweek hosted the second annual Women in Media and Sports event, the culmination and commemoration of our Disruptor’s Issue, on the Hornblower Infinity yacht in New York last week.

The all-day affair, which was sponsored by Lifetime, included a keynote by A+E Networks svp of research and strategic insights Marcela Tabares and a discussion on powerful women in sports featuring speakers like Kim Ng, svp of baseball operations for Major League Baseball, and Katherine Johnson, vp of global sponsorship marketing at Visa.

And this year’s cover star, actress and activist Geena Davis, spoke with Adweek about the future of gender equality in marketing and media. Anjula Acharia, partner at Trinity Ventures; Danielle Lee, global vp of partner solutions at Spotify; and Susan Credle, global chief creative officer at FCB, joined the discussion. See the conversation above.
