Weber Shandwick Wins Allstate PR

BOSTON Allstate Insurance has tapped Interpublic Group’s Weber Shandwick to handle a corporate public relations assignment, concluding a nearly six-month review.

“Allstate has generated significant momentum toward transforming the company, and the addition of Weber Shandwick is intended to help continue that momentum through its public relations expertise,” said Peter Debreceny, vice president of corporate relations at the Northbrook, Ill.-based company, in a statement. The insurance firm has been working to transform itself into a personal financial services provider.

For the past four years, WPP’s Hill & Knowlton has been the lead PR agency for Allstate, the country’s second-largest car and home insurer behind State Farm. H&K will remain on the client’s roster, occasionally handling projects outside of corporate positioning.

“We’re exceptionally pleased and proud to have been selected by Allstate,” said Daniel Reid, executive vice president and general manager, financial services at Weber Shandwick.

The budget for the account is undisclosed.
