VogtGoldstein Adds Upstate N.Y. Utilities

BOSTON VogtGoldstein said it has been hired for creative chores by Orange and Rockland Utilities.

The Pearl River, N.Y., client, a unit of Consolidated Edison, tapped the independent agency in Wesport, Conn., following a review of undisclosed shops. Estimated billings are $2-3 million.

O&R provides electric service to nearly 300,000 customers in southeastern New York, northern New Jersey (under the name of Rockland Electric) and northeastern Pennsylvania (as Pike County Light & Power), as well as natural gas service to approximately 125,000 customers in New York and Pennsylvania.

“We talked to many agencies. But we believed VogtGoldstein could best help to give O&R a voice and a distinctive point of view,” said Alan Freedman, O&R’s director of public affairs, in a statement. “They are willing to immerse themselves in our industry, yet always challenge us to do something innovative.”

The work includes print ads, broadcast, bill inserts, direct response and Web executions.

Media planning and buying will be handled by Media Storm in South Norwalk, Conn.
