Virtual Friends

For fans who can’t get enough of Ross, Rachel and the gang, Warner Bros. Online has launched an official Friends Web site (www.friendstv.com).
The site is going up as the WB network prepares for the Sept. 21 broadcast premiere of the sitcom (shown here) in five-day-a-week syndication.
In addition to creating the site itself, Warner Bros. Online has produced a “front door” that local WB stations can place on their own Web sites, allowing for advertising placements for local clients, among other things. The network has also provided TV spots to the stations to boost traffic to their Internet sites.
The new site is also backed with online support from the over 150 stations who will be linking to the site.
“We’ve extended the syndication model to the Web with this fun, unique site,” said Jim Moloshok, senior vice president of Warner Bros. Online.
