NEW YORK Cellular firm Virgin Mobile USA has promoted Bob Stohrer, previously vp of brand and integrated marketing, to CMO.

The announcement late Wednesday came along with word that Howard Handler has vacated that post at the Warren, N.J., company.

“Howard has been one of the key architects of Virgin Mobile USA, helping to guide and shape many aspects of the company over the last five years,” CEO Dan Schulman said in a statement. “Bob [Stohrer] has also played a large part in giving Virgin Mobile its bold, maverick spirit, and he will be a powerful force in shaping our marketing strategy going forward.”
