Verizon.com Spot Breaks via Draft

NEW YORK Draft in New York today launched a new TV spot for verizon.com that aims to establish the Verizon Communications Web site as an alternative to contacting call centers.

In the ad, longtime spokesman James Earl Jones extols the convenience of online services such as bill paying and requesting repairs “on your time, anytime.” To drive the point home, Jones is seen toting oversize computer accessories—including a giant mouse and IT wire—while saying, “It’s a bigger deal than you might have thought.”

The ad targets existing customers in an effort to raise the Web site’s profile. Verizon spent nearly $40 million on advertising for its Internet services in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
