CHICAGO Vanguard Car Rental, parent company of National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car, has invited three agencies to pitch its advertising account, a company executive confirmed.

Pursuing the business are WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam and Omnicom Group’s Element 79, both in Chicago, and Publicis Groupe’s Fallon in Minneapolis, said Jerry Dow, chief marketing officer of the Tulsa, Okla., client.

Incumbent DG&A in Los Angeles was not invited, he said.

Dow, who joined the company last April having been worldwide advertising director for United Airlines, is leading the search.
