Van Gogh Vodka Business in Play

LOS ANGELES Luctor International has started a search for an agency to handle creative and media duties for Vincent Van Gogh vodkas and vodka-based liqueurs, a company representative said.

The Reno, Nev.-based importer has not determined its ad budget, but president David van de Velde, who is leading the search, said it could range from $2-10 million. The company, which offers a wide array of flavored vodkas and liqueurs, has not advertised its products for the last two years.

Van de Velde said the chosen agency would likely create print advertising, although he noted the media mix depends on the suggested concept. He said the company is searching for an agency to launch the “martini beyond vodka” concept in a “modern, hip way” to address its range of offerings.

Luctor hopes to select an agency by the end of the year and launch a campaign in May 2004.
