Unisys Names 3 N.Y. Finalists

ATLANTA Unisys has selected three finalists in the review of its $10 million advertising account, sources said.

The three finalists are MDC Partners’ Margeotes Fertitta Powell in New York and independents M&C Saatchi and StrawberryFrog, both in New York. The incumbent, WPP Group’s Grey in New York, did not defend the account, sources said.

Six shops met with the Blue Bell, Pa.-based client earlier this week. The other three shops in the pitch were not identified.

The three finalists will each receive identical assignments from Unisys and make presentations to the company early next month. Unisys executives plan to visit each shop before then. A final selection is expected by the end of March.

Unisys could not be reached for comment. ABA Consulting of Raleigh, N.C., which is handling the review, declined to comment.

Unisys helps companies design and implement integrated IT systems. Grey had held the account since winning it in a review in September 2000. Recent efforts from Grey have been print based and use “Imagine it. Done” as a tagline.

Unisys has cut measured media spending every year since Grey won the business, according to data from TNS Media Intelligence. After topping $20 million in annual ad spending in 2000-01, spending slipped to $15 million the following year and below $10 million in 2004. During the first nine months of last year, ad expenditures fell to $5 million.
