Scott, who was appointed general manager of the shop, which will be called TSR Scott Group, has been running his own consulting firm, The Scott Group, since he left Hill Holliday. He plans to close that operation down.
The new agency will kick off as a service office for one of TSR’s biggest clients, Lewis Galoob Toy Co. in South San Francisco. But TSR Scott plans to launch an aggressive new-business effort once the office is up and running.
‘We have an interesting expertise that we don’t think is available easily on the West Coast – that’s kids and young teens,’ said Richard Flaxman, president of TSR in N.Y. ‘We think that the West Coast is a growth opportunity for the agency.’
David Vipond, who had handled the Mattel account at Foote, Cone & Belding/L.A., was named account director on that business.
Galoob last year spent about $20 million in advertising. The company markets such toys as the Lazer Pro 9000, Tuff Trax and Baby Face.
TSR recently acquired Sherwood & Schneider in N.Y., renaming the shop Sherwood & Partners.
