Travelocity Gives Marketing Reins to Danielson

DALLAS Scott Danielson has joined Travelocity as senior vice president of marketing, the online travel agency said.

The position at the Fort Worth, Texas, company has been vacant since Michael Stacy left last summer. Stacy is now svp of consumer marketing at Clear Channel Entertainment in Houston.

Danielson will oversee brand and creative strategy, advertising, merchandising, customer experience and public relations. He joins the company from online travel consultancy Squeezoom, where he was president, and has held leadership positions at America Online, Prodigy and PlanetClick.

Danielson’s arrival is the second high-level management change for the department in the last month. Two weeks ago director of advertising and promotions Jason Pruismann resigned. His position is being temporarily filled by vp of marketing services Susan McLaughlin, who is based in San Francisco, the company said.

The Richards Group, Dallas, handles Travelocity’s advertising; Richards subsidiary Click Here is the client’s interactive shop.

Travelocity spent $29 million on media last year, according to CMR. Last month the client said it shifted 20 percent of this year’s offline marketing budget to the Internet.
