Tracosas to Assume Presidency of FCB

LOS ANGELES Interpublic Group’s Foote, Cone & Belding has named Jon Tracosas president of its Southern California office, the agency said today.

Tracosas, 51, starts in his new position on Dec. 1, according to a FCB representative. He will lead a 140-person office that works with clients like Taco Bell, Hilton Hotels Corp., Kawasaki Motors Corp. and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and will report to Gene Bartley, president and chief operating officer of FCB North America.

Tracosas was most recently executive vice president and general manager of Havas’ Arnold in New York. Arnold recruited him in January 2000 as McDonald’s operators expressed discontent with the shop and aided in solidifying the business. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and director of brand development at Doner in Southfield, Mich.

Earlier in his career, Tracosas was executive vice president, managing director at Deutsch in New York, where he worked on LensCrafters and Hardee’s. He also worked at New York shops Lois USA, J. Walter Thompson and Ogilvy & Mather.

FCB in Irvine, Calif., has been without a president for several months. Jim Harrington last held that position. In June, FCB said that Michael Harris, president of IPG’s Marketing Drive Worldwide in Boston, would take over as president of the Irvine office, with Harrington working on special projects for Bartley and FCB Worldwide CEO Brendan Ryan. However, Harris opted to stay at Marketing Drive and on Sept. 2, Harrington joined independent shop O’Leary and Partners as president [Adweek.com, Aug. 29].
