It may be June, but executives at Hammerquist & Saffel are thinking snow.
The Seattle agency recently picked up the account of Sims Sports, a Mill Creek, Wash.-based snowboard maker. The agency was selected for the estimated $1 million account after a review of several Seattle area shops. The agency will create ads for the client’s 1997-98 snowboarding season.
Hammerquist & Saffel has been charged with creating a campaign that positions Sims as a forerunner of the snowboarding movement, said Scot French, the agency’s director of client services. ‘It’s hard to think of snowboarding as losing its edge, but that is happening as the sport becomes more mainstream,’ he said.
Teaser ads will break in July with the campaign running October through December. Ads are planned for specialty and trade magazines including Transworld Snowboarding, Snowboarder, Snowboarder Canada as well as regional publications.
