Team One Advertising, revamping its management team, is seeking a leader for its business development efforts and has tapped Paul Ratzky to head its interactive unit.
Shirley Dion, the agency’s director of business development, is leaving the El Segundo, Calif., shop this month. Dion has spearheaded Team One’s new business efforts for the last eight years, playing a key role in such account wins as America West and AST.
Dion said she plans to tackle a number of projects outside advertising and possibly handle some consulting work for shops. “My plan is to take a well-deserved vacation,” she said.
Tom Cordner, co-chairman and creative director, said the agency is looking for a new business executive who “is ramped up, ready to go and self-sufficient.” Cordner and co-chairman and chief executive Leonard Pearlstein will oversee the agency’s new business efforts in the interim.
“Shirley had a great eight-year run, and she will be missed,” Cordner said.
Meanwhile, Team One has recruited Ratzky to be director of its 15-person interactive department. Ratzky, who joins the agency from Think New Ideas in Los Angeles, replaces Sean Hardwick, who joined TBWA Chiat/Day in Venice, Calif., several months ago to work on the Apple Computer account.
Ratzky said his priority is to take Lexus, the agency’s flagship client, “to the next level” of interactive marketing. The interactive unit has also been tapped to create a global Web site for Air New Zealand, he added. Pearlstein said Ratzky’s team will play a key role in all new business efforts.
