TBWA Taps Lindsay for U.K. Post

NEW YORK TBWA has recruited Publicis U.K. Group chairman Tim Lindsay to take the new role of CEO of TBWA Group U.K., the Omnicom Group agency said today.

Lindsay, 51, will oversee a half-dozen agencies in England and Ireland, including the London offices of TBWA, Tequila and Stream, BDH/TBWA in Manchester, Cauley Ney/TBWA in Dublin and Tequila in Dublin.

Lindsay, who reports to TBWA international president Keith Smith, will contribute to major new business pitches and pursue acquisitions and talent, said an agency representative. He’s expected to start in July.

Lindsay had been at Publicis Groupe’s Publicis since 2004. Before that, he spent 10 years at Interpublic Group’s Lowe, starting as managing director of what was then Lowe Howard-Spink in London and rising to worldwide president.

“His extensive experience in the U.K make him ideally suited for expanding our presence in the marketplace and his ability to forge powerful relationships with clients as well as to effectively incorporate a variety of marketing disciplines will be invaluable,” said Smith, in a statement.

“Tim is immensely capable and has an incredibly broad range of talent.”

Lindsay’s hire comes a month after TBWA European chairman Paul Bainsfair left and four months after Perry Valkenburg rose to European president from president and CEO of Central and Eastern Europe. The Hamburg, Germany-based Valkenburg also carries the title of chief operating officer, international.
