Supermodel Says Yes to Shahid, Bali

NEW YORK Naomi Campbell will appear in print ads for Bali’s new product lines this fall, following a two-year campaign that presented primarily anonymous models wearing the client’s undergarments.

Campbell appears in three black-and-white print ads shot by fashion photographer Richard Avedon, whose work for Bali’s has appeared since fall 2001. New York shop Shahid & Co. had always considered using Campbell, but never approached her until this year. To their delight, she accepted, said agency president Sam Shahid.

“There was no calculation, there was no reason, she’s very beautiful and she’s very Bali,” said Shahid, whose agency has worked with the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based company since 2001.

The client said Campbell embodies the image they hope to communicate.” She is one of the most beautiful women in the world and she has that strong elegant and confident look that is really supportive of what the Bali brand is about,” said Jennifer Armstrong, client vice president of marketing.

The Campbell campaign aims to draw attention to the company’s new products: Fusion, a line of shaping undergarments; and Lace Desire and Live It Up, two bras that will begin appearing on store shelves in July.

The ads will break in August issues of beauty and fashion periodicals including Vogue, W, Elle and Glamour.
