Starlink Wins Lexmark Media

The Lexington, Ky., maker of computer printers awarded its creative account to StarLink’s Publicis Groupe sibling LB Works last month (Adweek, Nov. 5), though the reviews were run separately, sources said.

Executives from StarLink could not be reached for comment. Roger Rydell, Lexmark’s vice president of corporate communications, said it would be “premature” to comment on the media review. Rydell has also declined comment on LB Works win of creative. An official announcement is expected by the end of the year, he said.

StarLink officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

The incumbent on the media account was Optimedia in New York. The shop handles some Hewlett-Packard business in overseas markets, which Lexmark executives might have viewed as a conflict, sources said. H-P’s domestic account is handled by Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco.

Ocean Group in New York was Lexmark’s creative incumbent and created spots that ran in Vogue.
