Tom Weeks has been promoted to head of Starcom’s branded entertainment and content development practice effective immediately, the Chicago-based Publicis media shop has confirmed.

Weeks, previously svp, entertainment director, replaces Laura Caraccioli-Davis, who has resigned to join Los Angeles-based Electus, the entertainment studio formed by former NBC Entertainment president Ben Silverman last year.

Weeks, who has been with Starcom for a dozen years, will lead a 15-member unit charged with developing content and branded entertainment strategies for clients as well as keeping on top of trends in pop culture and other activities that will help brands engage consumers more effectively.

“Content has taken a center stage in how we go to market for clients, and consumers are demanding more from entertainment in the world of digitization, personalization and interactivity,” said Lisa Donohue, Starcom CEO and to whom Weeks will report.
