Here’s something you don’t see every day. A major U.S. magazine editor walking down the fashion runway with one of her usual suspects and…
MJ Day, editor of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, was in Miami through the weekend for a couple of big events at the trade show Miami Swim Week. On Thursday night, the magazine hosted the opening night party, featuring a performance by Wale. And on Saturday evening, it was time to unveil SI’s first-ever swimsuit lines. The “Swim” collection has 72 styles, while the “Active” collection features 44 pieces. Both will be available in 2018. It is during the Saturday night event that Day’s walk-off with Hailey Clauson into the adjacent swimming pool occurred.
By the way, at the SWIMMIAMI opening night party, there was also a runway show, celebrating Swimsuit Edition fashions over the years. The outfits were modeled by the 15 finalists for the #SISwimSearch model competition. The winner will be featured in the 2018 Swimsuit Edition and continuing Day’s recent commitment to diversifying the representation of models in her magazine, the range of finalists encompasses women of “all shapes and sizes.” Bravo!
