In 1968, four guys in Boston started an ad agency. Two guys in Burbank created a TV show,” read the opening card to “Roman & Marty’s Laugh-In,” a 10-minute video conceived and created for Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos’ 31st anniversary.
The parody of the hour-long comedy show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, which aired until 1973, featured agency producer Greg Roman as Dan Rowan and copywriter Marty Donahue as Dick Martin.
Site gags, skits and one-liners were delivered in rapid-fire succession by copywriter Kristen Watters as Joanne Worley, broadcast producer Rebecca Malloy as Ruth Buzzi, vice chairman Dick Pantano as Arte Johnson and (playing herself) director of human resources Rebecca Haag, who delivered the last laugh by hissing into the camera: “You people are so fired.”
Print production manager Linda Ingeneri turned in the most daring performance:
a reprise of the bikini-clad, body-painted dancer originally done by Goldie Hawn.
