Smith Becomes Bi-coastal ECD at BBDO

NEW YORK Wieden + Kennedy’s Jimmy Smith heads to BBDO this month as executive creative director, a new post, an agency representative said today.

Smith will report to chairman and chief creative officer David Lubars and will split his time between New York and Los Angeles.

As a creative director at W+K, where he spent 10 years, he worked on the Nike account. He served as copywriter on “Freestyle,” showing basketball players using dance-like moves on the court, which won a 2003 gold Lion at the Cannes International Advertising Festival. He also wrote the Nike “Battlegrounds” branded-content documentary.

At BBDO, Smith will continue to work on branded content as well as traditional ads for clients including Pepsi.
