Starcom MediaVest Group has set up a unit to handle media planning duties on most of Procter & Gamble’s $2.3 billion account. The unit, SMG/ P&G, will have operations in New York and Chicago and work on the brands previously handled by Starcom USA, MediaVest USA and Saatchi & Saatchi. MediaVest CEO Laura Desmond will lead the New York operations, while Starcom USA CEO Renetta McCann will oversee the Chicago operations. Separately, the Publicis media network has bought out Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s minority stake in U.K. media agency Starcom Motive.
