The acting creative director during Leonard/Monahan’s final month will soon join Ingalls Advertising.
Copywriter John Simpson is expected to join the Boston-based shop in two weeks as vice president and associate creative director, reporting to co-creative directors Steve Bautista and Rob Rich.
Simpson expects to team with Rich–a Leonard/Monahan alum with whom Simpson has partnered in the past–and art director Steve Tom at Ingalls.
Simpson will work on Citizens Communications, John Hancock Financial Services and Ingalls’ newest client, The Times Union, a 100,000-circulation daily newspaper in Albany, N.Y. Leveraging its experience with former client The Boston Globe, Ingalls is developing a branding campaign for the paper.
Spending much of the past four years at Leonard/Monahan, with a brief interlude at the former Houston Herstek Favat, Simpson contributed to numerous award-winning efforts, including work for Polaroid and Saranac. –David Gianatasio
