Draftfcb has retained its lead as creative agency for Kmart after a protracted review that kicked off in January.

In the end, the agency bested corporate Interpublic sibling McCann Erickson and Dentsu’s mcgarrybowen, the lead agency for Sears—which like Kmart is owned by Sears Holdings.

The review was procurement-driven as was Kmart’s similarly extended media review last year. Incumbent Havas Media, formerly known as MPG, also kept its business. The retailer spent $175 million on measured media last year.

In the creative review, final presentations were held at Kmart headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill.,
