Shake-up at Zenith

NEW YORK In a major executive shake-up, Publicis-owned shop Zenith Media confirmed late Monday that U.S. president Wendy Marquardt is out, replaced by Dave Penski. Like Marquardt, Penski will report to Tim Jones, the shop’s New York-based North American CEO.

The agency also confirmed two senior promotions: Rob Jayson to president, strategy and Ava Jordhamo to president, execution. The agency said that Jones, Penski, Jayson and Jordhamo would form the executive leadership team for Zenith Media going forward.

Penski joined Zenith in 1999 as a print buyer and for the last five years has run the shop’s Verizon account. In a statement, Penski said: “I am looking to continue Zenith’s focus on ROI and the superior client service that has been expected by our clients.”

Jayson joined Zenith three years to lead the agency’s communications planning operations. He developed the agency’s signature planning process known as Pathways.

Jordhamo has been with the company since its inception in 1995, rising through the ranks on the buying side to become head of national video.

Marquardt, who joined Zenith in 1997, will remain a consultant to the shop for an unspecified period. The agency said she was leaving to “explore other opportunities outside of the media agency business.”

Commenting on the departure in a statement, Jones said, “We are especially grateful to Wendy for her commitment to the company these past twelve years and she leaves with our thanks, appreciation and, of course, best wishes for the future.”

In a statement, Marquardt said, “After a full 35 years in the media business, I have decided that it is time to look forward to some new and different adventures.”

Of his new senior managers, Jones said, “It’s a formidable and dynamic team that will help us deliver our ROI proposition to clients and drive future success in the U.S.”
