Seltzer to Lead Marketing at Ruder Finn

BOSTON Ruder Finn has named public relations veteran Bob Seltzer leader of its newly established marketing practice.

“There is no doubt that someone of Bob’s caliber will provide us with more of the ‘special sauce’ we’ve been seeking over the past year to enhance our agency capabilities for clients seeking strategic marketing consultation and program implementation. As head of our [marketing practice], he will play a significant role in growing and servicing our client base,” said Richard Funess, president of Ruder Finn/Americas.

Prior to joining independent Ruder Finn, Seltzer served as chief executive officer of WPP’s Ogilvy PR for more than five years. Before Ogilvy, he was executive vice president and founder of Porter Novelli’s healthcare practice in New York. For over two decades Seltzer has worked with a variety of accounts including Coca-Cola, Kellogg, Gillette, Johnson & Johnson and Ford. He left Ogilvy in 2002 and has been consulting for the past year.

Mary Trudel, who heads the New York consumer group, will assist Seltzer as senior marketing strategist in maintaining key client relationships as well as on new business efforts.

“We are most pleased that Bob Seltzer will be joining Ruder Finn. His strategic insight, hands-on experience in broad-scale marketing programs and his network of contacts has added a strong player to our team,” said Kathy Bloomgarden, co-chief executive officer of Ruder Finn.
