Brand Marketing Sauza Tequila Goes to dRush By Kathleen Sampey|September 21, 2001Share By Kathleen Sampey|September 21, 2001Share NEW YORK–Allied Domecq has awarded its estimated $15 million Sauza Tequila account to dRush.The win comes after a competitive review that included Modernista! in Boston, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco and Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami, and one undisclosed agency, sources said. The incumbent, Bates Worldwide in New York, did not defend.A client representative declined to confirm the contenders.In a statement, Avery Schmeisser, marketing director for Sauza, said dRush was chosen “because of its demonstrated ability to create relevant, impactful marketing communications platforms that integrate brands into popular culture.”The agency, a joint venture between music and entertainment mogul Russell Simmons and the Interpublic Group, also handles the Westport, Conn.-based client’s Courvoisier Cognac brand.dRush president Peter Drakoulious said the agency is “excited about this opportunity to expand our relationship with Allied Domecq.”
