Shop Plans to Centralize Buying, Planning
DETROIT–Fred Sattler, a longtime veteran of TBWA/Chiat/Day, is re-turning to his Michigan roots as Doner’s executive media director, a new post at the agency.
Sattler, 43, will also have the title of executive vice president. He has worked in media strategy for the last 12 years at TBWA/Chiat/Day, first in Los Angeles and most recently in San Francisco, a stint interrupted by a term at Leap’s ill-fated Los Angeles office. His last title was director of media strategy. He directed media for clients including Levi Strauss.
Sattler, a Detroit-area native, previously held media positions in the Detroit office of J. Walter Thompson, BBDO in Southfield, Mich., and Campbell-Ewald Advertising in Warren, Mich.
Sattler’s hiring is part of a centralization of Doner’s media operation, said agency chairman and chief executive officer Alan Kalter. The Southfield, Mich., agency has previously let outlying offices handle media buying and planning for their accounts. Sattler will oversee all media buying and planning from Southfield, including for Doner’s Southern California- based Mazda account.
“The growth of our agency has created new opportunities in the area of media planning and buying that demand someone of Fred’s talents, stature and experience to lead our efforts,” Kalter said.
