Sagon’S New Weapon

Finding more of his potential clients lacking marketing expertise, Glenn Sagon has created a marketing vice president position at his agency, Sagon-Phior Group, and tapped Jeffrey McKinney for the role.
A veteran of both the agency and client side, McKinney, 33, most recently worked for SPG client MediaOne, first as a regional brand manager in Los Angeles, then as corporate ad manager at the media company’s Denver headquarters.
McKinney previously worked at TBWA/Chiat/Day and Team One Advertising.
“Jeff brings the exact set of skills and experience we are looking for,” said Sagon. “We know his capabilities from first-hand experience.”
McKinney will help clients develop and execute strategy, and his marketing skills will come in handy as the Sherman Oaks, Calif., agency expands its roster of Internet companies. “It seems that what many of the dot.coms and the small-to-midsized traditional advertisers need is more of a marketing department than just an ad agency,” McKinney said.
McKinney also takes over responsibility for client services from agency president Andy Carmichael, who will work with Sagon on new-business development.
