Saatchi L.A. Taps Goodby’s McKay as Creative Chief

BOSTON Saatchi & Saatchi in Torrance, Calif., has named Mike McKay executive creative director, replacing Harvey Marco, who departed for JWT in New York in August to steer that shop’s creative department under CCO Ty Montague.

McKay, 41, arrives at Publicis Groupe’s Saatchi on Nov. 24 from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, where he has served as a creative director.

At Saatchi, McKay will guide the shop’s flagship $300 million Toyota business, and also assist with new-business efforts.

“Mike is the leader we need to help us continue to deliver great work for Toyota and attract new clients,” said Saatchi LA president Paul Mareski, in a statement.

Added McKay: “I’m inspired to work on such a respected brand and, at the same time, have the opportunity to bring in new clients to benefit from the agency’s talents.”

His most recent Goodby work includes HP’s global “The computer is personal again” campaign, as well as efforts for Comcast. McKay has been at Omnicom-owned Goodby since 2001, and began his career at TBWA\Chiat\Day.
