LOS ANGELES Round Table Pizza confirmed that CMO Renae Scott has parted with the company and no successor has been named.
Scott joined Round Table in the fall of 2006 after 13 years of franchise marketing and media experience at the Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s quick-serve restaurant chain.
After many years with independent Siltanen & Partners, Los Angeles, Round Table’s advertising account was reviewed last year. A few months after the work was assigned last July to independent Maiden Lane, San Francisco, that agency declared bankruptcy.
Scott reassigned the work to a runner up in the contest, independent WongDoody, Culver City, Calif., which introduced a “Pizza Knight” character and the tagline “Long live Pizza Knight” in a regional broadcast campaign.
Tracy Wong, chairman and CCO of WongDoody, said the shop’s status as lead agency continues. Scott could not be reached. Round Table declined comment.
The Concord, Calif.-based company spent more than $20 million in 2006 and $15 million-plus in 2007 on measured media, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus. (Pal 8 Media in Santa Barbara, Calif., handles media duties.)
