Rosenberg to Horizon

Zach Rosenberg, Initiative Media senior vice president/new-business development, has joined Horizon Media as executive vice president and general manager, Western Region. The promotion elevates one of the market’s better-known young executives and ends Horizon’s long search for a new leader in Southern California.
Rosenberg, 41, replaces Pam Warren, who left Horizon in the summer of 1999 to freelance and has since founded Pamela Warren & Associates in Los Angeles.
“We didn’t want to bring in a GM until we really felt ready to handle our growth,” said Bill Koenigsberg, Horizon president/CEO. “When you combine the new-business experience Zach has with his strategic and media insight and his ability to motivate and lead employees, he really fit the mold we needed.”
Horizon L.A. claims billings of $80 million from clients including NBC, MSNBC, Columbia Tri-Star Television, the Western Region Volvo Dealers and IHOP. In all, New York-based Horizon claims an estimated $650 million in billings.
Rosenberg joined Initiative in 1995. Before his recent rainmaking assignment, he served as account group leader of the team handling flagship client Disney and head of marketing for the media shop’s Diversified Services Group. He spent five years at TBWA\Chiat\
Day and was a member of the Agency of the Future task force from which that shop’s virtual office concept sprang.
“I’ve been blessed because I’ve worked with the best people in the business,” said Rosenberg. “Who can say they’ve worked for Dennis Holt and Jay Chiat?” The Horizon job beckoned because “I’m an agency account guy by background, [and] we share the same philosophy about servicing clients and being marketing-driven.”
Rosenberg also held account management positions in the L.A. offices of DDB and J. Walter Thompson. K
