Rives Carlberg of Houston has advanced to the finals of a review for two projects of Hearst Communication’s San Francisco Chronicle.

Rives will contend against IPG’s Foote, Cone & Belding and the Omnicom team of DDB Worldwide and Direct Partners Group, all of San Francisco, the client said.

Agencies will present creative on December 17 and 18. The paper, which spends $3-4 million on advertising, is seeking an agency to handle a project focusing on editorial and another aimed at revenue generation, said client representative Patricia Hoyt.
