Richards Wins Effies for Corona, Home Depot Ads

DALLAS The Richards Group has picked up two Effies, according to the New York American Marketing Association, which sponsors the awards to recognize campaigns that deliver strong results.

The independent Dallas shop and client The Gambrinus Co. in San Antonio won an Effie for their “Miles Away From Other Light Beers” campaign for Corona Light. In one spot, a bottle rolls down a bar that runs through a country-western saloon, a techno club and a sports hangout before ending up in a beach cabana.

The shop also won an Effie, with client The Home Depot in Atlanta, for a campaign promoting the chain’s Olympic sponsorship. One spot features company employees who participated in the games, including Tristan Gale, Lisa Kosglow and Derek Parra, doing their respective sports.

The shop, the only one in the Southwest to place in the national competition, will learn whether it has won gold, silver or bronze Effies during the awards ceremony in New York on Wednesday.
