NEW YORK R/GA chairman and chief creative officer Bob Greenberg received the National Design Award last evening in the category of communications design at a gala at the Cooper-Hewitt here.

The awards program aims to celebrate design in various disciplines and increase national awareness of design by educating the public and promoting excellence, innovation and achievement.

In 1977, Greenberg and his brother co-founded R/GA, which went on to create visual effects for 4,000 TV commercials and more than 400 films, including Braveheart and Seven.
